Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in performing arts (now called Maureen O'Hara), would be considered, at least in the eyes of America, into the class of child prodigies. As a person with Irish heritage, and surrounded as she was by gifted parents and family was naturally gifted, it came as a natural. Maureen joined this wonderful sanctuary within Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th, 1920. The mother of Maureen, Marguerita Lililburn FitzSimons a skilled contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also owned a part of the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer club in Ireland. Maureen FitzSimons was the child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed this lovely family. Maureen loved playing rough sports when she was young and became very adept at them. This passion and her gift in performing was astonishing. That was apparent when she was awarded each Feis in drama and theatre which Ireland could provide. At the age of 14, the Abbey Theater accepted her and let her live her dream in classical theater as well as singing opera.
